This is from a nine-part series of comedic sketches for PUMPHOUSE. Each one presents one of their nine “house rules” in a light-hearted way. This was another last-minute project with practically no plan at all. I was flying to Spain the next day and we needed to put something together. A lot of it was improvised, but one thing that I was very eager to ensure was that none of the sketches came across as condescending – the last thing you want, as an adult, is to be talked down to, like a child. This was achieved through exaggerated scenarios enacted by an over-the-top character, and the owners being overly lenient.

This is part seven, which is about the gym’s dress code. The original idea was a real gamble, and ultimately a total fiasco. I didn’t want my client to post a bad video, nor did I want us to go through the trouble of a reshoot. So, in the end, I came up with the idea of him walking around without shorts, which required stitching together clips from the other parts, adding some supplemental AI-generated shots, and finally “removing” his shorts. Don’t worry, I simply made his shorts match his skin color and then censored them.
